The worst part is that they absolutely gutted the identity by way over spending on him. Pavelski is obviously aging but he still was the soul of that team. They also rid the team of a majority of character type players that play hard and here you are with a team that plays zero defense.
You get rid of Goodrow (which was a good price to sell at), Dillon, Braun, Even Tierny. These are all the type of players that help create a solid system.

Good point about identity. Losing Pavs was a big step backwards for the team, losing Dillon was an emotional blow - he was playing really good hockey too. And I liked Tierny - he was evolving into a good 3rd line center for the team. I liked Braun a lot, but I think we sold him at the right time.
You can argue that we pretty much couldn't afford Donskoi after re-signing Karlsson as well. Though the guy can't seem to shoot, he drives play pretty well, holds onto the puck in the offensive zone with some slick stick handling; something they're sorely missing these days.
And to add more salt to the wound - sounds like Josh Norris is developing into a quality forward. Maybe not necessarily a top liner who will carry the line.... "stir the drink" so to say, but sounds like he might very well be a good NHLer.
What's ironic is - how many people, nearly everyone, cried out how badly the Sharks fleeced the Sens in this trade.
